Baby Skin

Babies often experience dry skin on the face and body because their skin is more sensitive than adults. Baby's skin is prone to dryness because their skin is still adjusting to the environment outside the uterus, or may react to allergens in the product or clothing. In addition, dehydration (lack of fluids) can also cause dry skin.

So that you can find out the right treatment, here are 5 causes of dry skin that is often experienced by babies:

Newborn exfoliation
Newborns will experience skin peeling for one or two weeks after birth. This newborn exfoliation is a natural process, and does not require certain treatments.

Overexposure to water
Bathing for a long time, especially with hot water, will deplete the natural oils in the baby's skin. This habit will increase the risk of dry and flaking skin.  1st birthday princess dress  1 year outfits  baby night light projector

It is best to limit the baby's bath time, a maximum of 15 minutes. Dry baby's skin by patting their face with a soft towel. Avoid rubbing with a towel to reduce friction and minimize the risk of exfoliation.

Use of lotions that contain alcohol
One of the most important things when shopping for baby products is to read the packaging label. Avoid buying lotions and baby creams that contain alcohol, because alcohol can actually make a baby's skin dry.

Ichthyosis
Ichthyosis is a genetic skin condition that causes flaking and dryness of a baby's skin. This skin problem cannot be treated, but many topical creams can help relieve dryness and control other symptoms. However, do not use over-the-counter medicines (OTC) unless advised by a dermatologist or pediatrician.
